PS4 Orbis Spec!!!!

Sony's next-gen PS4 'Orbis' console's final specs have supposedly been leaked today.

The specifications leaked by VgLeaks show a system with eight Jaguar cores at 1.6Ghz each, arranged as two clusters of four and a 'Liverpool Soc' from AMD Fusion APU Architecture.

RAM will clock in at 4GB for the system, or 3.5GB available to games, and will also pack in a high-speed BluRay drive, an enhanced DualShock and a Move controller as standard, the leak suggests.

Last week, NowGamer reported on the rumoured specs of Orbis's dev kits.

Here are the final retail specs, according to the information:

Here’s What’s New in iOS 6.1

Apple has just released iOS 6.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
According to the release notes, it includes features such as support for more LTE carriers, ability to purchase tickets through Fandango with Siri etc. In this post, we take a look at all the new features and improvements in iOS 6.1, includes the ones that Apple hasn’t mentioned in the release notes.
iCloud Settings: You will notice this as soon as your iOS device is upgraded to iOS 6.1. You’re now asked to confirm your Apple ID password for FaceTime and iMessage when starting your device for the first time after upgrading to iOS 6.1. Voice Dial Only: Apple has added a new section called “Voice Dial Only” for Voice Control feature under Siri. Here, users will be able to select the language for the Voice Dial feature. It’s quite strange that Apple decided to update the Voice Control feature, especially since Siri has been around for more than a year now. You can access it via the Settings app (Settings -> General -> International -> Voice Control -> Voice Dial Only section) ios_6_1_voice_dial_only
Support for more LTE carriers: iOS 6.1 also brings LTE support for the following carriers: USA: Alaska Communications, Alaska GCI, Bluegrass Cellular, C Spire, Cellcom, Pioneer Cellular Canada: MTS, Sasktel Puerto Rico: Claro, Open Mobile Croatia: T-Mobile, VIPNet Denmark: 3, Telenor, Telia Finland: DNA, Elisa, Sonera Greece: Cosmote Hungary: T-Mobile Italy: 3, TIM, Vodafone Kuwait: Zain Luxembourg: Tango Philippines: Globe, SMART Portugal: Optimus, TMN, Vodafone Saudi Arabia: Mobily, Zain South Africa: Vodacom Switzerland: Swisscom UAE: DU, Etisalat Reset Advertising Identifier: Apple has added a new Reset Advertising Identifier button. This button as the name suggests resets the Advertising Identifier so that future requests will return a different value. To access it, launch the Settings app, tap on General, followed by About and then scroll down and tap on Advertising. Tapping on the button prompts you to either reset or cancel the reset request. ios_6_1_advertising_identifier
Tweaked Music Controls on the Lock Screen: The music controls on the Lock screen (which can be accessed by double clicking on the Home button) have received a minor tweak in the look and feel department. ios_6_1_lock_screen
Report a Problem in the Maps app: If you want to report a problem with the mapping data, it is a lot easier to do it in iOS 6.1. Apple has replaced the Report a Problem link with a prominent button. Launch Apple’s Maps app and tap on the on the curled paged at the bottom right corner of the screen. You will now see the Report a Problem button along with Drop Pin, Print, Hide traffic and List Results buttons.
New Welcome screen for Passbook app: Apple updated the Passbook app with a new welcome screen. Apple seems to have also tweaked the text to reflect user’s location. It now reads “movie tickets” if you’re in the US and “cinema tickets” if you’re in the UK and so on. The other minor change is that the welcome screen is shown every time you open the app, which should make it easier to look for apps that support Passbook. In the previous version, the welcome screen showed up only for the first time.
That’s it. We’ll update the post if we find any new features or improvements. If you’ve found anything interesting then let us know in the comments.

Playstation 4

In an interview with a publication called Emol, Sony's vice president Hiroshi Sakamoto was certainly quite dodgey when it came to questions about the very next generation of the PlayStation family. From what we have seen already however, it's clear that something is definately on the horizon. For one, a few months ago IGN released pictures of the second iteration of supposed PS4 development units. That being said, there's been no real doubt in anybody's mind that a new console will happen eventually.....

HTC Butterfly Reviews and Specs

First Impression Amidst the rumours that some smartphone makers were contemplating coming up with a 1080p display, HTC came out with their HTC J Butterfly for Japan, Droid DNA for the US and simply ‘Butterfly’ for the Indian market. We had the chance to review the exclusive unit before anyone else could and we can easily say it’s a beautiful display that will impress any and every kind of user. But will it also impress us enough to pick it over similarly loaded smartphones? We’ll see.
Review Beautifully build, awesomely powered and intelligently designed. That’s the everlasting feeling you are left with after fully testing this Snapdragon S4 quad-core ‘superphone’ with a Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 in just a 5inch form factor. With 2GB of RAM it easily should be the best in class with its benchmark scores, and almost is – tying out with the LG Optimus G in some, but that phone never released in India and perhaps never will. The overall performance is enhanced with Adreno 320 GPU, which means playing videos in 1080p or the most graphic intensive games is a breeze. Because of the amazing display, everything just looks spectacular – almost like a dream. And though the 5” form factor has a slightly longer length compared to the breadth (almost iPhone 5-esque), it does not suffer any of the display issues that the iPhone 5 did, as the 1080p resolution is a standard one. Multimedia is enhanced because of the Beats Audio integration, plus there is 25GB of additional storage space via Dropbox to compliment the internal 16GB. The microSD card will support up to 32 GB, making space a non-issue. With Android 4.1 Jelly Bean available straight out of the box (upgradable to v4.2) with Sense UI on top, the user experience is smooth, fun and quite intuitive. Extended use, especially graphic- intensive use, heats up the battery a bit. But the same issue we have encountered with every major smartphone with pumped-up specs. On the negative, the micro-USB slot feels a bit fiddly to open and the micro-SIM slot too isn’t the best. The nice grip-assuring material at the back ensures the phone never slips out and the excellent finishing overall lends it a distinguished look. Verdict
The HTC Butterfly has got a Full HD display before all major smartphone makers, but the gadget is not resting on those laurels only. It performs brilliantly, has excellent Google integration and the Sense UI is pleasantly easy to use and customize. With a plethora of connectivity options to boot, as well as a fairly CAMERA The 8MP snapper is rather good, perhaps the best camera on a HTC device. The UI is the same that we saw on the One X+, and the front 2.1MP cam has 1080p video capabilities just like the primary cam. CONNECTIVITY 4G might be rather slow in taking off here in India, but it is an option available on the Butterfly along- with Wifi, DLNA, Bluetooth v4.0, AGPS + GLONASS as well as micro-USB. SPECS
5” Full HD Super LCD 3 Display 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor 2GB of RAM, Adreno 320 GPU Android v4.1 Jelly Bean (upgradable to v4.2) Sense UI 4+ 8MP with Full HD video recording 16GB internal, microSD support up to 32GB 140gms, 2020 mAh Li-Polymer battery

Sony Xperia Z water resistence

The Sony Xperia Z manages to marry a dust- and waterproof design with a stunning 5-inch full HD display and powerful 1.5GHz quad-core processor for a truly super-phone experience. Carrying IP55 and IP57 certificates, you can take the Xperia Z for a dip in fresh water up to 1 metre for 30 minutes, meaning a trip into the bath or a slip into the toilet shouldn't end your phone's existence.
You can also rest easy when you next head to dustier climates as these are no problem for the tough Sony Xperia Z, which laughs in the face of such danger. Festival-proof And if all that wasn't enough, if you were to drop your Xperia Z in the mud at a festival, the smartphone can easily handle a tap of running water to get it clean again. Couple this stand-out durability with a super-slim 7.9mm chassis, reflective glass surface and a wealth of features under the hood and you'll realise how the Sony Xperia Z can deliver the ultimate smartphone viewing and performance experience. We put the Sony Xperia Z through its paces in the video below, including its water-resistant abilities.

Super-slim Sony Xperia Tablet Z officially launched!!!!!

It's hardly the surprise announcement of the week but the curtain has finally been lifted on the hotly anticipated Sony Xperia Tablet Z. Following in the wake of the Xperia Z smartphone which broke cover at CES 2013, Sony is looking to once again tackle the tablet market with its latest water and dust-proof slate ready to take the reins from the Xperia Tablet S. Packing a 10.1-inch 1,920 x 1,200 full HD display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 8.1MP rear camera and Android Jelly Bean the Xperia Tablet Z certainly has the vital statistics of a top tab. WAFER THIN
Sony has managed to cram all that tech along with NFC technology, LTE connectivity and a mircoSD slot into a frame which is just 6.9mm thick. That mean's the Xperia Tablet Z is considerably thinner than the likes of the Galaxy Note 10.1 and Nexus 10 and it even pips the svelte iPad mini which clocks in at 7.2mm. As with its smartphone namesake Sony has stuffed a load of its own technology into the Xperia Tablet Z including its Mobile Bravia Engine 2 to improve the screen and its Exmore R sensor in the camera on the back. On paper then the Sony Xperia Tablet Z looks like a winner, but it does feel just a little bit too good to be true and as well as word on the price we look forward to getting our hands on a unit to see if it can match its supposed class. It's worth noting that the announcement has been made for Japan only for the time being, with no word on availability in other countries with Sony telling TechRadar "This product is currently only for the Japanese market. We cannot comment further on availability in other markets at this stage."

An Untethered 6.0.2 Jailbreak Is Ready!!!!

To be brutally honest, it's been quite some time since we have made any major progress with jailbreaking an Apple firmware. Obviously some of you that want to use a tethered option on your A4 enabled device have certainly been given the chance, but we all know that real success hasn't been reached until we can free ourselves from the shackles of a computer upon each and every boot. True fans of the scene itself have avoided iOS 6 simply because the added features don't entice them as much as Cydia does, but we've received some pretty solid word that updating may be in everybody's future. Coming straight from scene source Planetbeing himself, "Yeah, I’m not really sure what all the doom and gloom is about. The fact is, I have an untethered iOS 6.0.2 JB running on my iPhone 5 right now." In addition to this he says that many of the key players have simply been busy at other technological projects so they haven't been able to look that much into getting a truly stable option ready. Why won't he just release it now you ask? Mostly because he doesn't want to give Apple any clues on his work considering iOS 6.1 is right around the corner. The hacker has also admitted that just a few more bugs need to be found before anything like this can go totally public. To round out the basic premise of this story, I'll turn to another quote: "while jailbreaking is getting harder, reports of its death are highly exaggerated." You can bet as soon as we know more you all will be the first to hear of it!!!

The PS2 Ceases Production Worldwide

After 12 long years of being graced with some of the most memorable gaming moments I have ever had the pleasure of taking part in, the PlayStation 2 has finally ceased production worldwide. With Japan ceasing production just a week ago, this doesn't come as unexpected news. It is still sad to think though, that such an iconic console that defined an era will no longer be packaged in a fresh new box for older gamers to relive nostalgia, or younger gamers to be introduced to the most popular console ever. This news was first confirmed to The Guardian, sourced below, that got news from Sony about the aforementioned information. With the PS2 selling over 150 million units worldwide, it is going to be a hard number to beat. Post your nostalgia below, hug your PS2 tightly and take good care of what is a time machine that you definitely don't want to break or lose.

Head To Head: Console Vs. Tablet. Which Device Is Better? - The Final Word

As you can see right now, the playing field between tablets and consoles remains pretty even with good reason. In some senses it's hard to say that any one of these is better than the other simply because I think they kind of serve entirely different audiences with their own unique needs. If you want something that is going to play your triple A titles with ease, then it's a no brainer to pick a console. Still, if you're a more casual gamer that likes to play a round every now and again while on the train or in the library then maybe a tablet is a better fit.
The issue with this battle is these are two options that serve their audience extraordinarily well, but the priority is different. That means which one you like best is going to depend on your own needs. All that being said, if it were up to me I personally would pick consoles because I would rather play a full featured game and I have a laptop to get my advanced computing done. If you want something that is multifunctional and easy to use however, then I see nothing wrong with tablets. I honestly can't pick a side here that everyone will entirely understand so here's what's going to happen. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Overall Winner: You Decide

Head To Head: Console Vs. Tablet. Which Device Is Better? - Does Operating System Matter?

When it comes to consoles, in many ways the industry hasn't spent a lot of attention focusing on operating system components. Sure you might get your odds and end update to your Dashboard or XMB every now and again, but since maybe a year after launch a lot of the big guns have probably been released and installed. In a lot of ways, this model certainly makes sense for what consoles are designed to do. In the mind of Sony or Microsoft, you shouldn't be spending too much time with their GUI because you'll be in a game or an app. Still, it couldn't hurt to give us a refresher every now and again. 360 fans will know Microsoft just put out a massive update to their own dashboard, but even the PS3's XMB and Wii U interface hasn't gotten much love from the critics.
On the tablet side, you've got iOS and Android which is a serious battle to even attempt. These two are so competitive with one another that new features and add-ons are coming at a sometimes constant stream. Apple in particular has its yearly overhauls, and while the basic structure hasn't changed much it still manages to get done games and any number of other functions pretty seamlessly. I personally haven't spent much time with Android, but with the GS3 taking the top spot in gadgets this year it's hard to argue much different. The difference I feel in tablet OS versus console is the developers have a constant need to make it better. This in turn creates an overall better product that is able to do more in a much simpler way. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Winner: Tablet

Head To Head: Console Vs. Tablet. Which Device Is Better? - Let's Talk About Gaming

Since this is a gaming site we're on, it makes sense that we should spend a little bit of time talking specifically about games. Last week I praised the console for it's vast library of different titles, and essentially I'm back to do the same again. When you lump all gaming consoles into one massive category, the result you get is a shiny orb that contains 95% of the greatest games we have ever played. With Kratos, Mario, and Master Chief all working for the same team for once, it's a bit difficult to say anything truly competes with that. Not to mention compared to what we see on tablets these games are absolutely expansive. With huge lush environments and more add-ons than I can comprehend, console is the place to be for true triple A games.
Tablets mark a very special audience in the industry. Despite having the power to handle titles that are similar to what we see on consoles, the majority of really popular tablet games rarely employ that kind of strategy. Because they don't have a genuine controller to utilize, it's hard to make a really great tablet game that is anything more than casual. That's not to say the games aren't fun. Angry Birds has made billions with good reason and a cheap price just like most other tablet hits, but they pale in comparison to what you see on your home TV. This may be a case of "what kind of gamer are you" to decide which is better, but I know most of you are in the hardcore crowd here so I'm picking the machine best suited to play hardcore titles. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Winner: Console

Head To Head: Console Vs. Tablet. Which Device Is Better? - Who Is More Innovative

Gaming consoles have been around for a much longer time, so in a lot of ways you could say they've enjoyed quite the seat of comfort for a while now. In all of this relaxation however, in many ways you might say the machines haven't done much more than give us an experience that performs better visually than the year before. What it all boils down to, playing a game on Xbox 360 isn't too much different from what we saw on Nintendo's NES in the eighties. We're still sitting on our couches mashing a series of buttons to beat the boss. While I'm not really saying it's a bad thing, it just hasn't really encouraged change
Tablets on the other hand offer entry into a much more expansive and competitive mobile industry. When it comes to gadgets we can take with us, there is simply a lot more you can do with that. Just like consoles we can play games and media, but on top of that you've also got a great touch screen experience and web browsing that actually functions compared to what we see on machines like the PS3. When I look at tablets I see a computing option with so much more potential to change not only the way we play games but the way we live our entire lives. Ideas like the Kinect or Wii U are certainly the console's way to compete with that, but at the end of the day not much has really changed in that arena. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Winner: Tablets

Head To Head: Console Vs. Tablet. Which Device Is Better?

Last week we also talked about consoles as a means of hardware, but in case you weren't there I will sort of recap what was said. Compared to something like a PC, consoles don't carry quite as much in terms of raw processing power. Sure the PS3's Cell has the ability to take down plenty of PCs out there, but with specs mostly trimmed down there's no way it could put out quite as much. In a lot of ways the same can be said about tablets. They are a source of much more refined power, and in many cases the specs actually match for now. Well known industry sources say that Apple's new A6 chip specifically is on par with the Xbox 360, so in a lot of ways you are going to be able to run the same type of content if developer's make it.
The next thing you have to think about though is that the console business is in a major year of maturity. Some of these machines were made seven years ago. That's not to say they're any less powerful, but you and I both know once the supposed PS4s and Xbox 720s of the world are announced, they'll be able to blow away anything you see on a tablet right now. Not to mention despite some of these high specs depending on your model tablets still don't really offer an entirely seamless computing experience. In any and all cases, console hardware for me has always done what I wanted it to do, which makes it a winner in my mind by a narrow margin at least. Winner: Consoles
